Privacy policy.
The short version: we don't track you, we don't run ads, and we never sell your data. The only personal information we hold is what you choose to send us — your name and email if you write in or subscribe to the letter.

Who we are
"Indic Handlooms" (we, us, our) is an independent field guide to India's handloom traditions, published at indichandlooms.com. This policy explains what personal data the site handles and your rights over it.
What we collect
We collect only what you actively give us, plus minimal technical data needed to serve the site:
- Contact form — when you use the form on our contact page, we receive the name, email address, and message you enter, so we can read and reply.
- Newsletter signup — when you subscribe to "The Loom Letter", we receive the email address you enter, so we can send you the letter once it launches.
- Anonymous traffic stats — we may use a privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics tool (Cloudflare Web Analytics) that counts page views and rough geography. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint you, and cannot identify you personally.
- Server logs — like every website, our host briefly processes technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages and protect against abuse.
We do not use advertising trackers, third-party marketing pixels, or social media tracking scripts. We do not set any cookies of our own.
How we use it
- To read and respond to messages you send us.
- To send you the newsletter, if and only if you subscribed.
- To understand, in aggregate, which articles are read — so we can write better ones.
- To keep the site secure and working.
That's the complete list. We do not use your data for profiling, automated decision-making, or any purpose you didn't intend.
Who processes your data
We're a small project and rely on a few trusted services to run the site. When you submit a form or visit a page, the relevant data passes through these providers, each under its own privacy terms:
- Web3Forms — delivers contact-form and newsletter submissions to our inbox.
- Google (Gmail) — where those submissions arrive and are stored as email.
- Cloudflare — hosts the site and, where enabled, provides the cookie-free traffic stats described above.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone, ever.
How long we keep it
Contact messages stay in our email inbox for as long as they're useful for correspondence, and you can ask us to delete them at any time. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed. Aggregate, anonymous traffic stats carry no personal identifier and are retained only as summary counts.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it — including unsubscribing from the newsletter. These rights are recognised under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and, for visitors in the EU/UK, the GDPR. Just email us (below) and we'll act on it promptly.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
As the site grows — for example, when the newsletter moves to a dedicated email provider — we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
